Marked with a St.Petersburg assay office gold hallmark "anchors+56" and maker's mark "EK" for Erik Kollin. Эрик Август Коллин/Eric August Collin (1836-1901) was born in Finland in the village of Pohja in the South of Finland, Kollin apprenticed with the jeweler Alexander Palmén in Tammisaari in 1852. In 1858 he was listed in the parish register of St. Catherine’s Church in St. Petersburg as a goldsmith. He was employed at the workshop of August Holmström, who worked for Gustav Fabergé. In 1870 he opened his own workshop and became the head workmaster of Carl Fabergé’s firm. In 1886 he gave up the position to Michael Perchin and began working independently.
