大日本雄辯會講談社 - Dai Nihon Yūbenkai /Greater Japan Oratorical Society/ Kōdansha

Seiji Noma founded Kodansha in 1910 as a spin-off of the Dai-Nippon Yūbenkai (大日本雄辯會, "Greater Japan Oratorical Society") and produced the literary magazine Yūben (雄辯) as its first publication. The name Kodansha (taken from Kōdan Club (講談倶楽部), a now-defunct magazine published by the company) originated in 1911 when the publisher formally merged with the Dai-Nippon Yūbenkai.

機械化國防協會 - National Defense Association of Mechanization

 

National Defense Association of Mechanization /Kikaika Kokubo Kyokai/ was established in 1940 with deposits from the government and military industry to promote science and technology and national defense education. Its predecessor was the Mechanized Weapons Association /機械化兵器協会/, which was established as an affiliated organization of the Ministry of War. The purpose of its activities was to promote the need for mechanization of army units, to conduct political activities to increase military spending, and to enhance weapons through donations from citizens and local governments. Retired army general Toyohiko Yoshida assumed the chairmanship of the association in his late sixties and served until the dissolution of the association due to the defeat in the war. The Defense Science Magazine "Kikaika" /国防科学雑誌『機械化』/ was a Japanese monthly magazine published during World War II. It was first published in August 1940 with the Mechanized National Defense Association and Sankaido Publishing as founders and publishers.
