The Japan-Manchukuo Industrial Exposition was held in Toyama City, Toyama Prefecture for 55 days from April 15 to June 8, 1936. It was held on the reclaimed land of the Jinzu River in Toyama City (around the current Toyama Prefectural Office). Its abbreviated name was "Nichiman Expo/日満博".

On May 9, 1933, Kanaoka Matazaemon, chairman of the Toyama Chamber of Commerce and Industry, submitted a letter of opinion to the Toyama Prefecture Governor regarding "holding an exposition in Toyama City as its center." Although Toyama City and Takaoka City were at odds over the location of the exposition, it was decided that the next Japan-Manchukuo Industrial Exposition would be hosted by Toyama City, with Takaoka City being chosen as the location.

The background to the holding of the exhibition was the development of domestic commerce and industry following the victory in World War I and the resulting momentum for holding exhibitions nationwide, particularly the "Great Industrial and Tourism Exposition" held in Kanazawa in 1932.

The event was originally scheduled to be held in August 1935, but due to a major flood in July 1934, it was postponed to April 15, 1936.

The site of the exposition was the abandoned Jinzu River land (site area approximately 132,000 square meters ) that was created as a result of the diversion of the Jinzu River (Jinzu River Chikoshi Line Construction). The disposal of the abandoned Jinzu River land had been an issue since the end of the Meiji era, but the construction of the exposition site was an opportunity to build the Toyama Prefectural Office, the Japan Broadcasting Corporation Toyama Broadcasting Station , the Toyama Electric Building, and other buildings.

There were 18 directly managed exhibition halls, including the Main Hall, the Japan-Manchu Memorial Hall, the Tourist Hall, the Electricity and Industry Hall, the Medicine Sales Promotion Hall, and the Toyama Prefecture Hall, as well as 16 special exhibition halls. More than 190,000 items were exhibited over a 55-day period ending on June 8, 1936. The number of visitors was 913,030. The admission fee was 35 sen for adults, 15 sen for those under 12 years of age, and 30 sen for active-duty non-commissioned officers and soldiers.

To coincide with the exhibition, the Toyama Municipal Railway's city loop line was opened.
